Aftermarker Brake Controller

I have a 2015 3.5 Ecoboost Super Crew. The truck did not come with the factory brake controller. I installed an aftermarket unit and one of the local dealers said the reflash of the ECU might not work. Anyone have any experience with this?

Why would you have to reflash the ECU with an aftermarket controller? I think that only needs to be done with the factory controller, which you really should have bought instead. Well worth the extra cost.

Yes, glc is right, you don't reflash the ECU for an aftermarket brake controller.

If you want a good aftermarket brake controller, I highly recommend a Tekonsha P3. I got one, and I love it. It really does stop trailers -- well when they have good, working brakes.

The F-150 offers an available fully integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC). This first-in-class feature synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking (even with the heaviest loads) to provide added driving control and confidence.

Trailer Sway Control builds on the F-150's AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control system to help maintain trailer control through selective wheel braking and reduced engine power. The result is noticeable stability and control, which provides greater driver confidence when towing the largest loads.
This is well worth it and does require a flash at the dealer. An aftermarket controller does not integrate like this.
