unlatching tonneau w/o opening tailgate

OK. new truck means new bed cover.
The Access cover on my old truck has a latch that when "unlocked", can be opened without opening the tailgate.
I have always had roll-up or snap covers that can be opened without opening the tailgate.

Now I can not find a cover. They all say that you have to open the tailgate. When my bed is full of whatever, I don't always want to just drop my tailgate.

How do others deal with this?
Do you have a cover that opens from outside?

Thanks.

I currently have an extang folding that has to have the tailgate opened. It's not a big issue for me. On my prior truck a had an A.R.E. hard fiberglass cover. It could be opened from the outside. Most of the hard covers are this way. Most of the folding or soft seem to be the opposite.

Picking up my truck next week and it is suppose to have a hard cover that you do not need to open the tailgate. I wasn't told a name for the cover put I am very anxious to see what it is. Dealer said it is a hard cover but almost has a convertible roof cover on it. I was kind of confused and the cover is free so I wasn't asking to many questions. I will post pics and details here when I get it.
