When I removed the radio antenna from my 2016 F-150 to keep it from smacking the garage door, the Sync phone Bluetooth connection shut off. When I reinstalled it the sync worked fine again. Is this antenna critical for the function of the sync phone system? If so, does Ford, or anyone, offer a shorter antenna that will actually work?

All the auto parts chains carry shorter antennas. I bought one at Advance Auto Parts.

 

I bought one at Advance Auto (8") and it works great...

 

I read lots of complaints about the shorter antennas, so I cut about 3" off the stock antenna and reinstalled the ball tip. It works great!
