Tips and tricks

I thought I would start a tips and tricks thread. There are a few things that aren't mentioned in the manual that are very helpful! Chime in if you have any secrets of your own!!

-When you put your truck in reverse, on the backup camera screen, there a a plus symbol that will change your camera view! Very helpful when hooking up a trailer!

-key pad functions...you can lock the truck by pressing 7/8 9/0 on the pad, even when it's running! Enter your keypad code then press 5/6 and it will drop the tailgate (USE CAUTION!!) use your keypad code and then press 3/4 and it will unlock the backdoors also!

-in the compartment where your USB ports are if you lift the rubber mat you will find your "my key" spot. This is where you program your key fob. Some people leave the fob in that spot so it's hidden and use the keypad to lock/unlock!

-here are instructions for wiring your mirror flood lights so they stay on after the 5mph shutoff!
http://www.f150forum.com/f118/run-mi...u-want-311291/

-traction control...press the button one to turn it off. Press it once then a second time but hold for 10 seconds. That turns off advance trac also. Double tap the traction control button and it enables "advance trac sport mode!!" Raise your RPMS to around 1500 with the break on, let off the break and punch it...hold on!!!

-if you have the full console but a column shifter there is a hidden compartment under the rubber mat on the left side of your console.

-if you go into navigation and press "menu" and then travel link there is weather and active weather radar!!

Some annoyances:

1. can you somehow make the fog lights stay on when the high beams are on?
2. can you make the 12v accessory plugs not turn off after 5 minutes?
3. that 7/8 9/0 thing to lock the truck did not work on my truck (XLT 300A), someone else mentioned it previously and I tried it and did not work
4. how do you disable the "belt minder" to not beep, I did that on my 2005 but could not find anything in the manual about how to do it

Here's a link for the seat belt! As for the locking the doors are you pressing the 7/8 9/0 at the same time with two fingers?

nice video 2tonescrew.
next time I am in the truck I will give it a try. On another note, I see you have the wrinkle in the drivers seat. I have that also. TBS15-0047 addresses that. I also have TBS 15-0080 which is the ill fitting rear armrest. I have not had time to bring it to the dealer for replacement yet. My truck has 4000 miles on it , not much *** time for the seat to look so stretched out.

The 7/8 & 9/0 to lock from the key pad has been the standard on Fords for as long as I can remember...Even back in the late 80's thru the 90's...I did alot of paint work on Fords/Lincolns and Mercury's...seems odd the it doesn't work on a 15...perhaps a glitch...I know it works on my 05...

Out of curiosity....does the numbers on your key pad associated with your code light up differently (ie either brighter or dimmer)? My daughter pointed that one out to me on mine when it was newer...my code keys are dimmer than the others....

At least as far back as the '82 T-Bird. Now I feel old.

7/8 9/0 at the same time locks my 2015 XLT.

After inputting the keyless code, you can also press the 1/2 button to unlock all doors and the tailgate if needed.

I found an obscure function of the keypad in the owners manual on my 13, if you have memory seats, after you punch in your code to unlock the doors, you press the 1/2 button to put the seat and side mirrors in memory position 1, push the 3/4 button for position 2. The feature is not enabled from the factory, you have to perform a certain sequence to turn it on. More than likely, the 15's have this feature also. After I found this, I showed my salesman, who didn't even know it existed.

This one has me very curious. I went and looked and sure enough there it was. Just wondering a couple of things.

If the key is left in there can't anyone just walk up to the truck touch the door handle and the truck will unlock ? Or do we disable that feature in the settings and then just use the key pad ?

Sync 3 hidden menus

Has anyone had the "climate screen" appear on there sync 3?
I do not have the GPS or Climate system on my sync 3 I only have the reg climate *****.
But 1 day I entered my door code and when I started the 2016 f150 the sync 3 had the climate screen displayed and was fully functional, but once I hit the home button I was never able to make it come up again. Any clues?

Start truck go into setting's via sterring wheel- go to locks and put it on all doors. And then press 7-9 together that should work in any settings all doors or driver only. And it's in your manual or ford.com

Anyone know how to reply to text messages on the Sync screen while vehicle in motion? It says that it's disabled for my safety....

Yes

You simply come to a stop hit reply. Then drive but do not hit "home" leave the list of text up to be able to select while driving. Or simply use the voice button on the steering wheel and say "reply to text" or "reply" it will then bring the list back up and on the left side you will see a number such as a (1) hit the voice button again and say the # that is next to the pre installed text.
