Sync3 Has to have Nav Factory Installed

Hello
Is it true my Sync3 will not have a navigation program on it? I was shown sync with nav, so figured it came with the rather expensive unit. No one at the dealer asked if I wanted Navigation added.... Of course I want it. I read on this site it can't be added after factory build, is that correct? Man what a disappoint if this is true.

Man I have the 2015 Sync and I had Toyota Entune before.

Phone nav works so much better. I used nav in this truck a handful of times only. Dont feel like spending 10 minutes trying to type in an address. Nav came with the panoramic roof which is why I have it.

I think I will get lockpic so I can see my phone nav on the truck screen. Soon enough they probably wont even have integrated nav in vehicles anymore.

Apple CarPlay is definitely the way to go. 2016 GM cars all have it. I'm very disappointed in sync and the navigation. Hopefully there will be a way to incorporate CarPlay in the future.

Would certainly help if someone from Ford Sync 3 group would confirm this, however they seem to be sworn to secrecy regarding this upgrade. I'd really like to know what it is that "must" be factory installed in order for the Ford Nav to work in the Sync3.

Hi RVerz,

Navigation must be added at the factory for all systems; not just SYNC 3. The programming is different and is not available as an aftermarket installation.

And you were going to find out if I can add it now since my truck is not being until next month. Anything on that?

I was checking to see if it already had navigation installed. I'm unable to access the information if the vehicle is still in production. Reach out to my colleagues in the Customer Care Division: http://www.f150forum.com/members/fordservice-47652/

Not trying to be controversial but if you arent in areas without cell service dont even waste your money on it. Smart phone nav is way better, at least on my iphone.

Now they just need an app so you can get it on the nav screen so everything is a little safer. I really really wish they would do that.

Only works with Sync 3...that SUCKS! While I'm not of fan of Sync at all I was hoping Apple CarPlay would be added to make it better. I still can't believe they put old technology in the new flagship truck. Disappointing!
