Damp drivewrs side floor carpets

So I purchased a 2015 F-150 XLT sport 3.5L ecoboost supercrew the other day and as I was installing my all weather mates I noticed the carpet on the drivers side was wet. We had a few days of rain so I thought maybe someone had wet shoes at the dealer. I let it dry out without a mat as I live in a dryer southern climate. Installed the mat again and checked this morning. Drivers side floor carpet is damp again. Is this a known issue? I have to tell ya that I came from an older Tundra and this is somewhat disappointing to have issues immediately. Sounds like a dealer service trip is in my future.

Welcome to the forum, fordin. Visiting your dealership is a wise next step. Let's see what I can do to assist as well. How many miles are on your truck?

Thanks for the fast reply, fordin. I'll push this up the chain to your regional customer service manager (CSM). They'll work with your dealer to ensure this issue with wet carpet is resolved. PM me your details, and I'll get the ball rolling. When writing, be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.

No. We had heavy fog overnight and this morning and the carpet is wet again on the drivers side after I put my all weather mat back in once the carpet was dry. I'm now leaning toward the windshield leaking suggestion and by having the mat in it doesn't have time to dry out. Really concerned the dealer will have to replace the windshield on my brand new truck and my screw something else up in the process.

Don't worry about windshield replacement. I just had mine done by a glass shop that the local dealers use and everything is fine. Try to get an OEM Ford replacement if you need this done. Mine wasn't for a leak, it was cracked.

If it is leaking and considering the truck is about 2 weeks old my guess is they are going to cover under warranty and replace with OEM. It has the ford branding in black at the top of the windshield.

Oh one other thing. Should they be replacing carpet and pad underlayment since it has been damp since I've owned it and who know for how long since it was built? The carpet has a faint mold smell.

Yes they probably should replace the carpet and especially the padding underneath. Sounds like it could be the windshield leaking or cowl. Is there any oily residue on the carpet?
It shouldn't be, but it could be a faulty heater core, or heater hose not tight.
