I have not even picked up my truck yet, and I want to do upgrades!!
After looking high and low for a truck (2015 SCREW, 6.5' bed, v8), I finally found one at a dealer an hour away. I am picking it up Friday. I am stoked!! I have not even seen it in person, but test drove about a dozen of them in the last month.
It's a 2015 XLT Super Crew 4x2
- with 5.0 v8
- trailer tow package
- XLT "300A package" (base XLT)
- 3.31 electric locking axle
But since it's the base XLT, it is missing some of the cool features of higher end XLT's or other trim packages.
Things I want to do:
- new leather steering wheel: I did this on my 2005. I bought a brand new leather wheel off of a Lariat (off of ebay) and installed it on my truck in under an hour. I see no 2015 steering wheels on ebay
I'm not a fan of the leather wraps... prefer the real wheel, my 2005 factory Ford one has held up VERY well...
- trailer brake controller: how much $$ and how hard is this to do?
- electric converter outlet thing: how much $$ and how hard is this to do? Looks like this will be a quick plug and play, I am assuming the wiring harness is already there, right?
- new gear ratio: I want to swap in 3.73 gears. I would prefer the dealership do this (warranty), anyone know what I will be looking at as far as cost for this?
- truck cap: I currently have a leer on my 2005, I have not seen too many 2015's with them though...
- running boards: these are just plug and play, right? There are already holes tapped and threaded to just install them, right?
- rubber bed mat
- wheel well thingy's that Lariat's have... how hard is it to do this, and get the paint to match?

Didn't say whether you have 4x4 or not, but the average going rate of a gear swap is about 600-900 for the rear axle and around 1300-1500 for both axles. Going through the dealer will probably be a bit higher.
Also, curios to know if the wheels from the 2004-2014 will work on the 2015's... I have a set of FX4 18" wheels off of a 2006 FX4 that I really like on my 2005, and when the tires wear out on my new truck, I would probably swap them onto it. I know I will have to figure something out in regards to TPMS, but are the spacings and lug pattern the same?
