You obviously haven't driven a 2015 F-150 to see how quiet, and smooth they are.

 

I sleep just fine thanks. I don't lay awake trying to find ways to bash others and their choice of trucks on forums though, either.

Then that's not a crowd I want to be around and I will happily leave.

Plus, I live out in the country. The only black tie events here are weddings. And the wedding party either leaves in a truck or on a hay wagon. I think it classifies as a luxury vehicle just fine.

 

That's highly location dependant. In places like TX, AR, OK etc a high end truck is every bit as high brow as any of the German, Jap or American luxury cars. If you roll up in a poverty spec XL you will be looked at as the hired help. A KR, Platinum etc will not be looked down on.

 

My son worked as a valet at the Wynn in las vegas for awhile,just a small second rate hotel, and always said he parked more trucks then anything else. His words not mine.

 

Well, I just paid $60grand cdn for my F150, I'm pretty sure I could get a nice looking car for that price! My part of Canada you can drive that pretty girly "luxury" car for 3-4months out of the year, think I'll stick with my 4x4 and skip the black tie events..
I had an 2012 Mustang 5.0, just wasn't practical in my neck of the woods, luxury/sports cars are a novelty around here.

 

The Wynn & Encore are my favorite hotels in Vegas. I just made reservations at the Encore for SEMA in November......

 

Son is in tn. now,daughter still in Vegas and works at the Wynn. I lived there for 35 long yrs

 

I enjoy photographing SEMA, and the beautiful sights along the strip. Ford always has a great exhibit at SEMA.

mtnmanut...I may have missed it, but what part of Colorado do you live in? I am in Parker....Denver suburb. A couple of times a year I haul my 2014 Corvette Stingray in an enclosed trailer (about 7000 pounds) and my F150 Ecoboost handles it like it's not even there. We have altitude to deal with...how are you liking the Diesel at altitude compared to your old truck? I'm sure it's night and day.

 

Crazy is wrong. I grew up in 3/4 ton trucks. I used to own a 90 F250 460. I'm a 460 fan. But I have the 13 5.0 F150, and I have done significant amounts of towing, including a Ford Probe on a heavy trailer My F150 will obliterate Dad's old 77 F250 400. And it's way more comfortable.

 

Those Super Duty Diesels are great for towing, but just wait until it needs some engine work and the cab has to come off.

My work truck is a 2010 F250 6.4L, and it has more grunt than it can put to the ground.
I've pushed busses and even a train car with it.

The fuel mileage seems better on the 6.7L than the 6.4L, but since my work truck never goes long distance, I never see any real highway mileage.
I get 9-12MPG in mixed suburban driving. Glad I don't have to pay for fuel.

It's had the cab off twice in 89,000 miles.
First for a fuel pump issue when it was about 6 months old, and just last summer for an exhaust leak. Again, glad it's a company truck and I don't have to pay for the repairs....

I used to want to have a diesel, but not anymore.
If you have the need for that much grunt, then it's the way to go...
But if it's only for the ego factor, your wallet better be as big as whatever you're compensating for....

 

I have an 03 F150 and towed a big tilt trailer with a skid steer on it. It was a total of about 11,000lbs and it had no issues

 

The guy that lives across the street from my ex FIL pulls a boat like this one with a Honda Ridgeline. Just because it will move it doesn't make it an intelligent choice. But like Bud says, I'm only going a couple of miles with it. Yeah, and if somebody doesn't pull out in front of you, you might live another day. Pulling is one thing, stopping is another game. Trailer brakes are only helpers, not real braking power.

His boat is packing 4 each Mercruiser 1570HP supercharged engines using surface drives in a 36 ft platform. Best comment I can make about it, it's loud and it goes thru gas faster than the station pump can pump it. Try 350 gallons an hour.

 

If he can afford to run a boat that uses 350 gallons an hour, he can afford a proper tow vehicle.
