PM sent. I tried the update process again. Long story short, I followed the process to a T but it froze during the reboot process. After several capacitive discharges to the truck most of the functions work again. I still do not have access to anything with Bluetooth, phone or user input. I called the 1-800 number and was told to go see a dealer and probably pay for it out of pocket. Thanks Ford...

Hey Wookie!

I responded to your PM. Take a look when you get a chance.

we all should be paying more attention to the road, than what is on the screen. Nothing is that important. Hang up and drive.

Get off your soapbox, this thread is about a new update for sync.

Thoughts are welcome, and encouraged. But if I want to be preached to, I'll go to church.

BTW if what you have to say strays too far off topic, please start another thread. Nobody likes their thread being crapped on.

Sorry to the OP, but it had to be said.

Thanks for that. It's been a long day and I needed a good laugh.

Yep, all new system. No way in the year 2015 to swap some components to upgrade a software system that costs between $1-2k. You must purchase a brand new $30-50k vehicle.

It's like saying "you can't get there from here. You must start at the dealership."

Not being upgradeable is nothing new. 2008 F-150 guys lost out on Sync. Guys could not swap in My Ford Touch to a 2012 F-150. There may actually be a case of someone swapping in, but it would be rare and cost thousands. If all trucks were the same there would be no reason to buy a newer model. But this is a luxury item so don't worry about it or think you have to buy another truck again with Sync 3 unless you really want to.

Thanks for the information, I have a Gen 1 Sync system and I logged into sync only to find upgarde 4.41. I have upgraded my Sync Gen 1 system and now it will read my Text Messages! One of the biggest issues I had with the Sync system now works.

It worked perfectly fine in the wife's 2012 Explorer but my one year earlier 2011 F150 Platinum it wouldn't work. I can't tell you how happy this makes me and how much safer this is for all.

Thank you Ford!

Now if they would just allow us to add apps like we were promised that would be AWESOME! I would love to control Pandora from my radio like promised from Ford when I bought it. Regardless, happy for the update, thanks again for the info!
