2015 Window Tinting Help

Howdy,

I finally broke down and became a member of the forum after buying my new 2015 Lariat FX4 with the 5.0 and all the goodies. I am looking to tint the windows and wanted to know what people were using. Whether they just tinted the front to match the back and what they used. If the back is chemically tinted or if the factory used a film and the percentages the factory used. I have been considering Huper Optik ceramic 30% all the way around, but wanted to see what people thought. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

Welcome to the site . I'm not 100% but I think the factory tint is around 18%. If you use the search there are quite a bit of older posts to help you out.

Are you saying the back windows aren't tinted dark enough vs. just tinting the front to match?

Check your state rules on tinting. Here in Massachusetts it is 35% on driver and passenger windows. Cannot tint windshield. I found that the factory tint was satisfactory except for the driver and passenger windows. I had them tinted with 3m film at 45%. I wanted to see my mirrors when towing at night. In MA if your windows are too dark, the vehicle will not pass state inspection. They have a meter that checks the tint.

MillerTime's 18% sounds right to me with the back windows as that's what my tint guy told me Ford's were.

In Texas, you can get away with 25% window tint on the front windows and above the AS1 line on the windshield. Factory tinting on the rear windows is roughly 20%.

Here in indiana 35% is legal up front, no windshield tint other then eyebrow and no limit on rears but I had 35% put over factory rears and 20% up front. I've done all 4 of my f150's this way and never had and issue with the law but could be ticketed for it if an officer chose to do so.

Thanks for the responses guys. I live in Texas, so thanks Juke! I talked to the guys over at EVS motors in Houston and am probably going to go with Huper Optik Performa 35% all the way around. That will keep me legal in the front and dark enough for me in the back (over the factory 20). I will post pictures when its done!

Also, anyone ever used this specific tint? Reviews?

To clarify, what level are they putting on the back to take the factory to 35%?

Sorry for the confusion. The windows are tinted inside the glass. Back is roughly 20% and the front im not sure, but not much tint, which you can't remove without replacing the whole window. I am saying that they are going to put 35% over the already tinted windows. It will bring the front to 25-30 and the back will have 35% over the 20% factory. That way the same color tint is used all the way around.

Just had the front two windows to match the back two, as well as the strip across the the top of the windshield. They used some sort of new film that reduces heat absorption but it only costed me $85 total and I am very happy with it.
