Question of the Week: Do you approve of the 3.5L EcoBoost in the new Raptor F150?

While we dont know just how much power it will pack, the debut of the 2017 Raptor F150 at the Detroit Auto Show revealed that the newest off-road sport truck will be powered by a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with at least as much power as the outgoing Raptor with the 6.2L V8.

Provided that the new Raptor EcoBoost has a touch more power than the old SVT V8, do you like the use of an EcoBoost V6 in the newest SVT Raptor F150?

of course - would almost always rather have forced-induction from the factory.

ive been driving an ecoboost more lately at work and they do drive nice and have good power but to me they just aren't cool i enjoy driving the 5.0 much more i think they could have taken this truck over the top with a badass v8 maybe a supercharged 5.0 or even the 5.2 from the gt350 but oh well...

I REALLY do not understand the big deal over the E/B in anything. It should be used if it makes the power required to do the job, period. All of you who say a V-8 is the only way to go.......because of the noise it makes? Did you all not get the toys you wanted when you were young? Noise doesn't get the job done. Get over it...........

When the average ecoboost proves that it can last as long as the average normally aspirated V8 in street use, then I will be a believer.

Incorrect statement. The new EcoBoost will have MORE horsepower and torque than the current Raptor’s 411-horsepower, 434-lb.-ft. 6.2-liter V8.

There is no 5.0 E/B.....the engine isn't built to take it in the present form.

Bingo. Also i know ford can tweak the tuning and put a better exhaust on the EB to get those numbers above the 6.2L. A high flow exhaust from heartthrob guarantees 35hp and a custom tune squeezed out 50 more without that exhaust. So 365 plus 85...450hp. I know ford won't tune it like the custom tune but they could easily get 425 from it. And if you get that much gain in hp, most likely torque goes up the same...so 420 plus 60 is 480....that would be nice.

I know there isn't right now. But with all the comparisions of the 2.7 vs diesel architecture, it wouldn't take much to make the 3.5 a little bigger.
