Question of the Week: Should there have been a diesel 2015 Ford F150?

The 2015 Ford F150 has an impressive collection of powerful and efficient engines, but there is still no light duty diesel. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel leads the half ton truck segment in fuel economy and it does so without compromising working abilities.

With that in mind, do you think that Ford should have rolled out a light duty diesel engine for the 2015 F150? Make your pick in the poll above and tell us why below!

No keep the diesel in with the heavy hitters

I would love to have one just to say I do but keeping practicality in mind, and the higher cost of ownership for diesels, if they can squeak out the same MPG in the EcoBoost I would much prefer that.

Plus diesel is not cheaper than gas anymore

I'm with Pockets, But do think that personally I would go for the diesel option if it were available.

There isn't much to go off in the 1/2 ton market, but I think the diesel resale would be higher and MPG's should be up there too.

I say yes even though I don't plan on buying a new F150 anytime soon.

The 3.5 ecoboost out pulls and out hauls the fiat ecodiesel. The mileage increase does not outweigh the cost to own and operate a diesel in a half ton. Besides if you need to haul or tow more than the ecoboost can handle, get a superduty.

One other thing, no matter how you slice it the ram if a piece of crap truck and butt ugly too. I would buy a tundra before I would be caught dead in a dodge.

DODGE...even it's name tells you to avoid it.

it frankly ain't feasible anymore. the way diesel once was, maybe (no emissions bs, diesel was cheaper, the thing were simpler, etc) but not today.

I'd love a diesel but a 6.7.

If Ford were to roll out a light weight diesel set-up, I would like to see it in a rock crawl version of a Raptor or save it for a Bronco

FALSE. The Ram Ecodiesel has less power (240) and was out-towed by the baby 2.7L EcoBoost, let alone the 3.5 EB with 365-380hp.

FALSE. Have you seen the working payloads? 490 to 1000 lbs. Towing is down, too.

If IB really wants to poll the forum or post news articles, it should make sure posts contain correct information and not be useless links to "blog" posts on news that is already posted in the forum. Is that too much to ask? And you still didn't fix the 3.5L V8 EcoBoost article on the "blog."
