2015 Steering Issue / Sticking when turning wheel

2015 F150 4x2 SuperCrew XLT 5.0 with 6.5' bed. Just over 85,000 miles. Also stock size Michelin 245/70/17 tires and factory wheels, no lift or suspension mods. Original front end /. suspension gear.

Recently I have noticed that the steering wheel is "sticking" when turning, in some points. Mostly when making left hand turns, but it also does it sometimes when turning right. Not always in the same spot, and at any speed. Symptom is while turning the steering wheel, you encounter resistance, if you stop turning in that spot, the wheel will stick. Like it's being held in place. If you KEEP turning, it will release and become normally fluid. If you try to turn the other way when it has "stuck", you encounter resistance, but you can turn out of it, and it eventually becomes fluid.

This does not happen all the time. But I can reproduce the issue pretty frequently.

Truck has not been in any wrecks, I have not encountered any obstacles or anything that would have bent anything, and it's in good alignment. Also no visible or audible power steering pump issues.

It's also gotten worse over the past couple of weeks. Noticeably worse. Thoughts?

You don't have a power steering pump. You have electric assist. This can get expensive.

Take it to a dealer. It sounds like a u-joint failing.
