Bought a 2018 Platinum loaded in April. Bought the 125k plan. Why ??? Because the truck has power everything !!! Have no idea how many computers are in the car. Also have it on a 2015 MKS.. Already covered the premium. BUT I am old an have no desire to work on my own drivers anymore. Take it to the dealer, get my rental an call me when it's done.

Purchased my 2018 F150 XLT FX4 without ESP. I've spoken with a few people on this topic. One guy worked at a local dealership, and had to leave due to being told of questionable practices that he needed to adhere to. It put his integrity into question. He also has a high performance business of his own, and his reputation meant more than the paycheck from dealer, so he walked. He said that he wouldn't own a new vehicle outside of warranty these days. Too many electronic$ that are co$tly to replace. I may look for an ESP for electronics only if possible. It's insurance for something you may or may not need. Sure was glad I had insurance when my child was diagnosed. It will never happen to me, it always happens to someone else. I am someone else.

Regards,
Michael

That is also why a lot of people lease.

Problem with leasing, is you have nothing to show for in a return. Catch 22 on everything.

Good comments, all. I'll be getting some sort of ESP on my '16 XLT because I know ZIP about the electronics these days.

I hate mechanical work. I can do it, but I don't enjoy anything about it. So I stopped changing my own oil 15 years ago.

I bought one for my '13 FX4. I had to get the screen replaced between the speedometer and tach. Without it, it would've cost me $900. Just had to have $4,700 worth of transmission/electrical work done last month. Both repairs cost me $100 each.

If you plan on keeping your truck for years, it may be worth it. Too many electronic components on these now not to think about it.

It was worth it to me.

Sold the truck because the warranty was expiring this coming January (was wanting a new one anyway) and bought a new 2018 F-150. I'll be buying the ESP again, but shop around first. Prices vary from dealership to dealership. Zeigler Ford in Michigan was the one I went with.
