I understand that, just trying to give him a friendly warning before he crosses the line, so to speak.

So what happens to the 2017 3.5 EB that gets the 10spd? Does it get it's own forum?

Should we also have a separate 2007/2008 FX2/FX4 they got unique tail lights and headlights?

Not to beat a dead horse here.....

Just because the 11th and 12th gen differences aren't overwhelming to the average consumer doesn't mean there isn't a ton of differences.

Between 2008 and 2009 models

2 New cabs, all new body panels, new front suspension, new rear suspension, new interior. That is an entire new vehicle, which is notated as a new generation

Between 2017 and 2018
Some new body panels, some redesigned engines (some carry over)
carry over transmissions, carry over frame/suspension, carry over cab, carry over interior.

Face it, it's a refresh, not a whole new truck......

You could also split up the 04-08's into two groups, the 04-05's had rectangular fog lights, and the 06-08 got round ones.

Or if you really want to get picky, the dark blue color on the 04-06's was true blue, in 07-08 it was dark blue pearl.

Or why not create an entire subforum for the 09 flareside as it was the only year the 12th gen got a flareside.

If the owners decided to create a new subforum for just a facelift, they would have to create one for every little detail that changed from year to year. There would be a forum for black trucks, one for red, one for 2wd, one for regular cabs, etc. etc. There would over a thousand different subforums just from 2004-2014. It would be a total waste to create a forum for the 2009, black, 4x4, xlt, reg cab, flareside, 5.4 powered trucks just for the maybe 2 members to post in. The admin and mods have enough on their plate trying to keep this site free of spam and foul language and nutjobs to worry about a subforum just to make you happy.

If you look at the trucks 87-91 and 91-96 they werent much different, for that matter 1980-1996 werent that different, granted we didn't have internet back then

I would never suggest breaking up 1997-2003 because the differences were so minute.

But seriuosly, differences between 2004-08 and 09-14 are about the same as 15-17 and 18+

So again, why the reluctance?
I kind of agree with you.

The 2004-2008 gets its own forum but was easy to follow because almost everyone had the 5.4. There were some changes throughout the years but nothing confusing.

The 2009-2014 was a big change but easy to keep track of. because of the carryover engines. And an 6 speed lineup. The 2011 had new engines but they were different displacements so again very easy to keep track of.

The 2015-2017 and 2018 is a little bit different and gets confusing. 2015-2016 has a 6 speed. But the 2017 has a 10 speed 3.5 TT V6. The 2015-2016 is a 6 speed. The 2018 has an updated 5L and a 10 speed, the 2.7 is updated and has the 10 speed and a new base engine that is the same displacement of the TT. People could confuse the 2015-2017 5L with the new 2018 5L/10speed, etc. In addition to the new look, the 2018 also gets a beefier frame with a little more towing capability.

But then again this forum only gets about 1 legitimate post every couple weeks so it doesn't really matter and doesn't need a new forum. A lot of good posters from here have left or don't post much anymore. The forum was a must read every day 6-10+ years ago. Now I can go weeks and not miss anything. F150forum still gets good posts every day and drives members from here to over there because they don't have a blog and just stick to the forum without any nonsense on the homepage. f150online has been severely damaged by "the blog" in my opinion. It is written by people who know nothing about F-150's and is clickbait. Once people see the blog at f150online, they leave and don't come back.

That's pretty lame blaming it on the homepage and blog. There's no reason anyone even has to look at them if they simply go to f150online.com/forums/ and ignore any threads started by Johnny Mayday.

Sure, the 2018 is a decent update but it sure isn't a new generation. 2015-2018 is all considered 13th generation. From Wikipedia:

Ford has made several changes to their engine lineup for the 2018 model-year pickup, which Ford has confirmed will be a member of the thirteenth generation.
Tenth generation (1997–2003)

Eleventh generation (2004–2008)

Twelfth generation (2009–2014)

Thirteenth generation (2015–present)

No, it doesnt. It's identical externally from the 2015-16, that's the line I would draw...

They could but they won't and a lot of people already left.

Just checked the trending topics on the homepage and this thread is the #1 topic on f150online. Pretty sad indictment of f150online if you ask me. No offense to crazy but this thread is garbage and should not be the #1 topic and this forum has become garbage. The days of this forum really cranking out quality posts and being the place to be will never happen again. The people running f150online don't give a darn.

I think the early production 1997s should have their own area since their exhaust pipe is in front of the wheel not behind it.

Since those junky old 2009-2010 trucks have old school engines in them they should be moved outta the 2011-2014.

Since the 2013-2014 trucks have different grills and headlights they gotta go too.

Or we could just group them according to the generation designed by Ford. Just like it is now...

I miss the traffic of the old "glory days" too, this website was the place to be in 2005-2008 era.

My personal theory is the trucks them selves are built much better, more power etc, that less people are seeking information like tuners, E-fans etc, so less people asking questions etc

FWIW: F150online and f150forum are both owned by IB

This place was pop'n back then! I wonder if BookFace, er, FaceBook had a lot to do with mass exodus of the forums?

I vote that the poll to determine if 2018 gets it own forum be moved to the 2018 forum that does not exist yet!

My 2005 was an XLT that I modded the heck out of to make it just the way I wanted.

This time around I felt like the options that I wanted were all there and the OEM quality had really improved. I did tweak the sound system and add a level and tires on the 2015 but that is about it.

I still enjoy stopping by from time to time but there are less posts to get involved in for whatever reason?
