I have a 2016 F150 with non-navigation Sync 3. The wifi does not work and I was recently told by dealer that the non-nav has no wifi capability. Is this true?????

 

So let me be more specific. If you have the Sync 3 without navigation, can you detect wifi signals in system>wifi>available networks (in Sync 3)???

 

I don't have nav or Sync 3 in my truck. But the wife has it in her 2017 Escape Titanium. The Nav and all of Sync3 updates via wifi. She gets several updates a year assuming that since she's had the car a year this month. I see no other way than wifi comes with it regardless of nav or not, it has to update. There are other parts of the system than nav. I do remember a couple of things when she got hers. Sync is not compatible with all cell phones. She had to go to her provider and they find a phone that would work with it. That was another 600 bucks out the door. Ford has a published list of phones online if you search for it. Her first updates were a wreck to get and finally one of the guys at the dealership figured it out. Now it just updates and lets her know about it. Sorry I have no more info for you but there should be someone far more knowledgeable to help. Just give this thread a little time.

 

Misleading headline.

The new Wi-Fi system didn't arrive until the 2018 models and you also have to buy a service plan.
