2.7L Evap control problem

I am having a similar issue with my 2015 f-150 with the 2.7L EB. Check engine light came on at about 59,500 miles so I took it to the closest dealership to run a diagnostic hoping whatever the issue was would be covered under the warranty that expired st 60,000 miles. Code came back as the same P2450 Evap control system valve performance stuck open. They briefly explained what this meant but said it was not covered under the power train warranty. I’m confused how something that’s a part of the exhaust system is not covered under the power train warranty. Paying $900 to have it fixed after just buying the truck 6 months ago seems outrageous. Is this something that should be covered under warranty/should it cost as much as the dealership quoted me?

I'm new to the forum and I wanted to know if you were able to resolve this issue being that I am having the same issue. I'm hoping that I can resolve it without going to the dealership.

Crystal,
I am having the same check engine code on my 2015 F150 2.7L V6 with 39,000. Can you help me? Ford service centers near me are closed!

thanks,
Steve

TSB 18-2522 for a 2.7 Ecoboost?

I have a brand new 2018 F150 Lariat wtih the 2.7 L Ecoboost. At 940 miles on the odometer (1 week old- car had 340 miles on odometer at pickup) the check engine light came on. OBDII reader say code P2450. Took to the purchasing dealer and they performed the TSB 18-2522. Basically just reprogramming the PCM, which resets the check engine light (hopefully updates any software or firmware). But when I read the TSB is says it applies to all engines EXCEPT the 2.7 L. Has anyone else had this TSB performed for this problem in this configuration? Did it fix the problem or should I be more aggressive with the dealer to perform the full "drop the fuel tank, replace the control valve, etc."

I had the P2450 code on my 2018 3.5 turbo. It started out around 150 miles. They tried flashing the code but it did nothing. The final fix was for them to drop the tank and replace the EVap check valve on top of the tank. It's been fine since changed.

hi- did you identify what the issue was? I had the evap valve replaced and the check engine light and same code reappeared.

I know this thread is 2 years old, but I want to keep it alive since it appears my 2018 F150 is experiencing similar symptoms. I brought my recently-purchased 2018 F-150 XTR to local dealer (Garnet Ford) a couple months ago, for a $200 "Used Vehicle Inspection" (after I bought it elsewhere) and everything looked good. Then I popped a CEL (DTC P0451) which is apparently related to an evap leak, and brought it back to be checked under the basic vehicle warranty (which expired on March 31, 2021) on March 23. The Work Order (attached) says “Found TSB 18-2252 for concern reprogrammed PCM basic”. A couple days ago the CEL came back on, and when I pulled the code with my OBDII code reader it showed P2450. I have not noticed any discernable impact on vehicle operation, but am still concerned. I cleared the P2450 code a couple days ago, and it has not returned. We’ll see.

The reason I am posting here is that I did some research online, and it appears this silly fuel filler arrangement (no gas cap, fuel filler door is supposed “seal” shut) has been generating DTCs on F150s for some time. I also read posts indicating it may have something to do with the Evap Check Valve on top of the fuel tank (see Wassup8687's 01.03.2019 post above), and replacing the part requires dropping the fuel tank as well as the driveshaft (a very expensive procedure). I love my truck, and I’m hoping the code stays away, but if not, it is my informed opinion (I’ve been working on my own vehicles for years) that the P2450 code is related to the same issues that generated the P0451 code, and if this continues I will press the issue with Ford Motor Company to the fullest extent possible. Stay tuned.

Thanks for writing this. I have the P2450 code on a 2018 F150. Dealer said it would cost $900 to fix. That "vapor blocking valve" is stuck open. This happened several thousand miles ago. Not affecting performance that I can perceive. Gas mileage and power is the same. I'm out of warranty. I'm all for cleaner environment but it shouldn't cost me almost $1,000 to be compliant because of a poor design by Ford. I'm going to "keep on truckin'" until the problem becomes more than a CEL light. Frustrating. Keep me posted.

Crystal no longer watches the forum.

You should never post your VIN or phone number in a public forum. I suggest you edit your posts.

I would suggest you post in a Focus forum.
