Some Dashboard Lights Out
Some Dashboard Lights Out
Some of my dashboard lights are out on my 2009 F150 Lariat They are the back lights for the speedometer and other gauges. Is this something where I have to send the whole dashboard out to Ford? Will a local mechanic be able to repair them?

The instrument cluster comes out with a 7mm and a Philips screw driver.
The LEDs are soldered to the board. Before you take it out, get your phone and take a picture of the locations.
If you are handy with a soldering iron, or know of someone who is, then this is a very easy repair.
If not, you'll need to get it sent out to have this done.

It may not be the LED's themselves, there could be something else causing it. Something simple - make sure the rheostat for the backlighting isn't turned all the way down, run it from bright to dim a few times to make sure it isn't just on a dead spot.
