I have 166k miles on my 2013 fx4 and I need a new motor. Last week a plug blew out of the head. Even after stopping right away it did some damage. I have been good on maintenance and get consistent synthetic oil changes every 6k. Here is my issue. Do I put $11k into it for a new motor with belts ect and drive it for a year to see what happens with the new ones before trading. Or trade it in now and buy a new FX4? Dealer only wants to give me $1k. I have new tires, brakes, and a battery within 5k miles. It’s in great condition but the main components are all original. Transmission, starter, transfer case, alternator, bearings, ect. If I drop a motor do you think it’s a high probability something else major could fail?
