LED taillights/resistors...what gives?

Hello all,

I have upgraded all my light bulbs in my truck to LED's, with the exception of the four tail lights. I have been searching and searching for a light bulb with the resistor built in, and I just can't come up with one.

My front turn signals have built-in resistors. This fact combined with the fact that the F150 is a very popular truck makes it impossible for me to accept that a product like this just doesn't exist. However, no matter how hard I google, I can't find any.

Can someone help me located LED tail lights for my truck with built-in resistors?

You don't need resistors. You just need to replace your flasher with a EP27.

good tip. Thanks! Now to find a video showing where it is in a 12th gen. I've found it for older and younger, but not 09-14 yet.

Further research shows that the flasher is integral to the SJB and is not replaceable. However, I believe you can get a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and use Forscan to reprogram it to stop hyperflashing.

I'd love to do this. Unfortunately, the Forscan elite has deemed me a second-class citizen in the community because I have committed the unforgivable sin of driving a 2009

I don't know much about electricity. But, some things I've read suggest that if I get 24 ohm resistors for the LED tail lights they won't heat up nearly as much as the 6 ohm resistors that people typically use for this purpose, which get up to literally boiling temps. Is this right?

All my lights are LED except my tail lights. I'm holding off because I'm not comfortable with all the heat I'm reading about.
