Gauges went dead.....
Gauges went dead.....
Yesterday, Was driving, looked down and the speedo went dead and the info screen was alive but the info numbers only showed dashes. So while driving, I turned the engine off and restarted it and the gauges came back. It was only once, but I believe it is something that is going bad. Is there a speed sensor or something that is going out? If it is where is it? I want to stay on top of the problem.

Go to a parts store and get them to read them.
A usable code reader is only 20 bucks or so, you should have one. The Sierra Vista Walmart has this in stock:

Actually, I just remembered.....my car insurance dongle that plugs into the OBD port reads them and sends them to me. There are no current codes. Seems to me it has something to do with the speed or mileage sensor.
OK, so, last week the gauges did the same thing, but the wrench lamp came on. Went home and did some research and found the trans has a recall for some kind of speed sensor in the trans. Recall is good for 10 years or 150,000 miles. I am inside of both parameters. The service writer tried his best to make it a customer pay until I stepped in front of his computer and found it for him. Dealers.............don't they train people any more? All is good now. Also got half of the trans fluid changed with the recall, so I am good on that too.
