Starting problem

I have a 2011 5.0 v8 f150. It was running just fine , no overheating etc. Nothing out of ordinary. I went to start it in the morning and it turned over a few times and then stopped. I turned the key again and just got a click. After checking battery etc. I turned key again and now get nothing. Bought a battery and still nothing. It's getting voltage to starter. Also, I am unable to manual turn engine from harmonic balancer on front of engine. Could this be a relay ? I am stumped.. When I put new battery in I got battery saver msg and service advance Trac msg. Please help.

Sounds like the engine hydrolocked.

I pulled the plugs and checked for water. Also wouldn't there be a sign of hydrolock? No overheating , nothing. I got home from work, parked and went to leave the next morning and it turned over a few times.

Pull the spark plugs and see if it will turn over.

I'm assuming you mean, you pulled the plugs and it didn't turn?

If it won't turn with a breaker bar on the harmonic balancer with the plugs out, something internal has seized or one of the belt-driven accessories is locked up. Pull the belt and try again.

Jakey, can you explain more, other than it was a starter? Please, I'm really curious.

My buddy swore it was something worse because he couldn't manually turn the harmonic balancer pulley. It would not budge one bit. He was thinking hydrolock but I couldn't see that happening without some kind of precursor leading up to it. I tested voltage to the cylanoid and it was getting voltage to it but nothing was happening. Pulled the starter and the braided wire coming from the starter to cylanoid had detached from corrosion. Always check starter before assuming it is something worse.

I would think so. All my buddy could say was, "You have a tight wound engine." First time he ever couldn't turn an engine.
