Sudden loss of power while driving?

My family and I are heading down to see family in SC. About 4 hours in to trip the truck randomly loses all power. It’s still turned on, just won’t go anywhere when gas is pressed. Truck was shuttering. Wrench light came on. Turned truck off, then on and all seems fine.

Any insight or help?

It sounds like the electronic throttle body or pedal position sensor.

It went into fail safe. Read out the OBD2 for codes. You should still be on powertrain warranty.

At 39k, you are ready for new spark plugs. The Ecoboost needs new plugs every 40k, regardless of what the manual says.

Sounds like your Electronic Throttle Body. I’ve had two replaced on my truck already. Truck runs fine and then it will go into “Limp Mode.” Dealer could not find a reason why they failed, they just replaced them and said good luck. This is a major problem with these engines... there’s over 100 complaints to the NHTSA. Wonder what it’s going to take for Ford to recognize the problem, we were almost wiped off the Cajon Pass by a Semi when it happened to me the second time.
