Intermittent Backup Camera

2012 FX4, Ecoboost, crew cab, 6.5 ft bed. 99,500 mi. My backup camera has gone funky. Starts when it wants to, then stays on for as long as 5 minutes after shifting into drive. Sometimes it will not come on at all, other times it will come on for a few seconds long after i needed it.

Camera picture, when it is working, is fine. No issues with the guide lines. Reverse sensors work fine as well.

Dealer wants to start tossing parts at the issue. Before i do that i was hoping someone else had any ideas.

I did a search and did not see anyone with similar problems post a resolution.

Anyone fix a similar issue??

How is the camera switched on and off?? I thought I would start there as it seems to work fine when it gets switched on.

Mine does the same thing. I found that putting it back in park then reverse seems to re-engage it. (most of the time) I'd like a permanent solution though.

TinyMonster;

I guess you and I are the lucky winners!! We have the only two back-up cameras that are misbehaving. Lucky Us!!!
