ball joints, tie rods and ????

So after replacing my shocks I still was pretty clunky down under. I jacked the wheels up and verified my right outer tie rod was shot. Ball joints seemed OK but looked like crap. Is there any other suspension items I should deal with at 120K miles?

I just did upper control arm with ball, lower ball only(pressed), tie rod ends, stabilizer rods, shocks, all but the pitman and idler. This is no small job and after a string of work over a 3 day weekend. I was able to do the other side in about 6 hours. It is a lot of labor intensive work. I bought pickel fork set, sockets and some other tools. Autozone loaned me the press clamp fittings, and the big socked set. I think I just did 2000 in work for 250 in parts and tools. However, I am not sure its worth it. I am roasted physically. Get a good pickel fork set. I found one on amazon for about 25. In valuable. Detroid axel sold me a bad parts set, but cheap, autozon sold me bad brake parts and bad lower ***** (splined) that would not press in. Got their costlier ones and they went right in. Don't buy splined! I made sure the new parts all have grease fittings. Ended up doing the brakes and replacing the caliper on one side. Wholly mackeral!

Only way to get splined ball joints in is with a shop press.

Sounds like you didn't have all the tools for the job and you started your tool collection.

Tell ya what.... every time I go into Advance, Napa, AutoZone, I always come out with a new tool -- even if it's not for what I'm working on. I just throw it in my toolbox. Ya know what?! A year later when I'm working on something, you betcha, I got it... a man can never have enough tools!! haha
