2010 4x4 triton

I live in Northern California and just purchased a 2010 F150 XLT Super Cab 4X4 from Carmax. It replaced my '97 F150 XLT Super Cab 4X4 Off Road. This 2010 came from New Mexico and is not equipped for sale in California. The stickers on the bed say 4X4 TRITON, I have never seen that before, is that some kind of package? I know my 4X4 OFF ROAD had a locker rear end and skid plates.

Does it have the 5.4 V8 engine? This one used to be called the Triton I think?

(I might be mistaken on which engine... but I remember that one of the engines was called the triton)

Try putting the VIN into one of the lookup websites to pull up your window sticker

The 4.6 and 5.4 were both called Triton in the F150. I don't recall seeing Triton on the bedside decals, but it was on the front fender badges.

I think someone probably added the decal:

Thanks for the replies, I wasn't sure if someone had just put the bed stickers on it or if it was some type of package not available in California since this truck is nit equipped to sale in California. (No smog b. s.) I thought maybe it was something I hadn't heard of. Not sure what was done to it to get it California legal, but now it is, and it still has headers, no egr valves, and gets 15.2 mpg combined, 21 mpg straight hiway. With the Triton 5.4 3 valve V8.

That was an easy conversion - the 5.4 3 valve doesn't have EGR anywhere and as long as the headers and cats are CARB-certified, it's good to go.

I wonder what is different on it then that makes the under the hood sticker say "Not available for sale in California". There has to be something to do with the smog? I'm just curious if I am going to have problems with registration when it comes due for its next smog check because of the under the hood sticker. I have never owned a non California vehicle.

I'd probably peel that sticker off before your inspection!

It might be a nice idea, but no can do, without the under the hood sticker that has other information on it, I would fail for sure.
California Air Resources Board (CARB) is so strict about smog settings, levels, standards, and tampering with under the hood factory equipment. You don't dare touch anything. Sure I could replace the sticker if needed, but there are penalties for tampering with anything that pertains to the smog related equipment, and that under the hood sticker is something that CARB had said is part of the smog system.

I really enjoy the climate, the people and the area I live in. I just don't care for the taxes, the politics, the idiots in the Senate, and the local law makers. The fact that this is a democrapic state really gets to me as well. I was born here, and have lived in the samn town all my life. After my mom passes on, my wife and I will pack up and more out. Until then I am stuck here.
