13 platinum 6.2 tune/tuner questions

So I'm looking to get a tuner an some tunes for the truck. What tuner device is everyone using, kind of want a dash mounted one so I can switch between tunes w/o having to bust out the cable every time. Also was thinking of using 5 star tuning any input would be appreciated.

Mods: Banks monster side exit exhaust an banks cold air. An thinking of the BBK throttle body

Howdy! I am not a 6.2 owner but i would recommend the SCT Live Wire. As far as tunes what are you looking for? More Powa like a PERF tune or Tow Tune??

If your looking for PERF then i would probably suggest MPT. They are well known for their EB and 5.0 tunes and i would be the 6.2 would be no different. If your looking for Towing then i would suggest 5 star.

I have an '11 Lariat with the 6.2. I have the Livewire and leave it hooked up and mounted with the gauge display. I use the tach, engine temp. and intake temp.. I have both 5* and MPT tunes, both Performance and Tow. My 5* perf./street tunes (91 and 93) have a quick throttle and responds really fast. The 91 Tow tune is OK. I also tried the 91 Eco tune, but that was a waste. I had revisions done on both the 91 Perf. and 91 Tow because initially they didn't perform as expected. But they got much better. Both the Perf. tunes have solid quick shifts and hold gear. The downshifts are quick and tight. But the Tow tune shifts are soft and early. Just didn't pursue it any further, so not there fault. For MPT I have a 91 Perf. tune which I had revised once, and a 91 Tow tune that was revised twice. The MPT 91 Perf. tune is my favorite. Throttle response is quick and linear, and the power comes on fast. The shifts are quick and solid, but at lite to moderate throttle they come on a little early for me (doesn't hold gear long enough). Down shifts are solid, but a little late. The 91 Tow tune performs well, has quick solid shifts, but shifts a little early for me. Also, when I'm towing, I get the best towing gas mileage on this Tow tune. But, the truck runs hotter on this tune. Again, just got lazy and didn't pursue it any further. Other Life things going' on. So that's my experience in a nut shell. For everyday driving and performance I use the MPT 91 Perf. tune. For some Race like fun, I switch to the 5* 93 Perf. tune. For Towing I use the MPT 91 Tow tune. I also will tell you, that even though most will say it's a waste, I do like the 93 canned tune. Although not as nice as the custom tunes, it is much better than stock, the shifts are quick and firm, and I get my best gas mileage on it.
