SRS Module location

Does anyone know the location of the SRS module? I'm going to attempt to remove it from my truck over my lunch break so I can send it in for service. I'm just wondering where it is, so I don't spend hours looking for it. And what tools I need to remove it. The where it is, is the most important question.

It would help if you identified specifically what you are working on....

Hi everyone I found it. You simple have to lift the center seat up (including the part you sit on, it is easily doable), Then pop off the two trim thumb tacks, and lift off the piece of plastic. Then simple lift up the flap of carpeting and there it is. I was able to remove it in < 15 minutes.

Make sure you follow SRS airbag safety procedures of disabling the system before you move it. If you were to unbolt it and flip the module while it was plugged in, it would detect a rollover and deploy the curtain airbags!

Thank you for that advice. I did disconnect the battery and then tried to turn the truck on to make sure everything was neutral before I started unbolting. After I removed it, I left the battery disconnected to be safe. Does anyone know if you can connect the battery without the SRS module plugged in?

Doubtful.
Most safety systems will not activate if the vehicle is standstill with the key off. And even with the key on, there are plausibility checks that would rule out crazy things from happening.

You can connect it... but it will throw a ton of faults into the system and you might need to take it to Ford to get the faults cleared.

Driving might be possible, but it might go into limp mode and limit speed.

For sure all your safety systems (including ESP) will shut down.

Thank you mkosu04. I hope to get the module back by the end of the week as I sent it in to get the crash data removed. It is sitting at the dealership/mechanic right now without the module. It was basically an FU to the dealership... long story. But basically after I took it in the second time after they told me the first time they unlocked it.. and it still isn't unlocked from the accident, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
