I've researched on here but haven't been able to find the answers to my specific needs. If this has been answered I'm sorry I just can't find it.
So my truck is. 3.7L 4x4 Regular cab with a 2" ReadyLift leveling kit in the front. Most importantly I want to say my truck is a daily driver. It's not my toy not do I have the money to start replacing or upgrading front end parts. Moral of the story I want bigger tires but I don't want to go overboard and make my truck unreliable.
So I bought new rims 17x9 with a 15mm offset
I'm set on my tire brand. Goodyear Duratrac. However before I pull the trigger I'm trying to decide on 285/70r17(33x11.5) or 315/70r17 (34x12.5)
So my questions are:
-do you all think the 34x12.5 are to big for my needs? Will they prematurely wear out my truck?
-Will a 34x12.5 fit without ANY trimming at full lock with my 2" ReadyLift leveling kit?
-do you think a 34x12.5 would look stupid on a 17" rim?

Reason: Adding info
How about a 295x70x17 (33.5x12) I had them on my '04 Lariat with 17x9 wheels with a 0 offset and they fit and looked perfect. I ran 315x70x17 BFG's on the same wheels earlier and they rubbed in the front even after some trimming.
Thanks for your reply!
I love the stance of your truck. Good looking rig!
Unfortunately 295's aren't an option with Duratracs. And I'm not at all interested in running an MT tire. I chose Duratrac because in my research they seem to be the best all around tire on the market. From snow to mud to HWY I can't find a better rated tire.
But it is good to know that you had rubbing issues with your 315s. This give me a better idea of where I stand. Thanks again!

I think with your engine and rear end the 285x70x17 Duratrac is a good choice. Kind of a hybrid AT and MT tire. Here's some pictures of the 315x70x17 BFG TA/KO's on my '04 with the same 17x9 wheels...this pictures were taken over 10 yrs ago.
That is definitely the stance I want. But maybe more aggressive then I need for a daily HWY driver.
And yeah the Duratrac seems to have everything I'm looking for. Lightweight, aggressive, quiet, good wear and lots of siping for snow and ice. Besides HWY I do some muddy rocky roads to my favorite fishing hole and here in Nova Scotia we have snow for sometimes 6-7-8mths a year. Thanks again for your feed back. This forum is awesome!

Just do your homework before buying these expensive tires. 33's are good enough for daily driving and anything over is mostly for show. Remember every inch you go up in height from the stock tires your speedometer will read close to 2 mph less then what your really going. Taller tires cut into your trucks performance quite a bit also...I had to buy a programmer to adjust for tire height and shift points. Good luck with your decision!

I've definitely done a lot of research on tires and I am currently running 265/70r17 duratrac for real world experience. But since I installed the leveling kit the 265s look small.
And once I put on the wheels with a 15mm offset I can only assume they will look really skinny.
I believe the tires that came on my truck were 235/75r17 and 265/70r17 was an optional tires size for my truck when I bought it new so Ford did a reflash for the new tires however I think they can only do a reflash for tire size that are sold on the truck from factory?

Nice truck...it will even look better with the new wheels and tires! Ford Raptors come with 315x70x17's so you would think they can go up to that size...every dealer is different.
