Well it happened, 100,000 miles on an EcoBoost

Last night I hit 100,000 miles on my 2011 EcoBoost and despite what the haters on the internet said the engine didn't simply give up and die. I have averaged 17.1MPG over the entire time which is a lot of freeway driving, loads of smokey burnouts, plenty of stoplight to stoplight beat downs (mostly on GM junk), pulling quite a few trailers, crawling around in 4x4 and using it like a truck. In that time all I have done is change the oil, filter and air filter, put a couple of sets of spark plugs in it and replace a failed O2 sensor. I have had a 5* tune on it since about 60,000 which only makes this truck even better.

In case anyone was wondering I'm completely sold on forced induction even in a truck. I am getting a borescope for Christmas so I plan on using it to look at the valves and see if there's any carbon buildup on them. I'll post up the results when I can.

100,000 in the EcoBoost, still running strong.

Congrats on the milestone.

What gears in your truck?

Wookie 12-10-2015 10:27 AM

I have the 3.55LS.

Congrats...my truck is only at 20K so I have a way to go! :beers:

Nice job!

2011 EB 4x2 152k, 3 sets of plugs and avg 19.4 mpg. No towing and not too many burnouts. Running stronger than ever.

That's great to hear!

I love hearing this. I know I won't be upgrading for a few more years, but when I do if I don't go brand new it's more than likely going to be a 11-14 EB. Looking forward to more updates from everyone.

So, Wookie - it's WAY after Christmas! Was Santa good to you? Hope you are still going to post the borescope pictures.

True...

I picked up an el cheapo scope but the good one had issues with the vendor and I ended up not getting it. Right after Christmas my daughter was born so my free time to work on cars has turned into diaper changing time. Once I can squeeze some spare time into my schedule I'll take a peek inside the intake and look at the valves.

Congrats on the Christmas baby, Joe! :beers:

They DO change your life, don't they?

She sure has changed things! My house has exploded in pink stuff and my free time is pretty limited right now. Sleep is a luxury these days.

Aint that the truth. Before kids I was a terrible sleeper, had to have the right pillows, dark room, quiet ....... then after the kids came along you find yourself able to take cat naps almost anywhere at any time. Congrats !

Same here! Mine is now 3 weeks old. I love the little guy, but he sure has been cutting into my truck time, lol!

Glad to see the Eco doing you well. I hope to keep mine for some time and load it up with the miles.
