For What It's Worth: J. D. Power
For What It's Worth: J. D. Power
Just for curiosity's sake, I pulled up the J. D. Power quality reviews on the 13 and 14 F150 and Silverado. While the overall star number was higher on 13 Chevy than 13 Ford, the powertrain/mechanical specific on the Ford was 5 star versus 3 star Chevy. The 14 Ford was 5 star in EVERY category but style, while the 14 Chevy was a 2 star powertrain.
I personally put a lot more stock in J. D. Power than I do in Consumer Reports. Furthermore, those particular reviews reflect what I've observed.
That the 14 Ford would be better in overall quality than preceding years simply reflects the typical life cycle of each generation. About the time they get the bugs worked out, it's time for another change, hence the 15 F150. The drop in the quality of the 14 Chevy reflects a brand new generation.

I reed J D power's reviews all the time. I have not ever put to much stock in to what they say, after I heard they post in a positive way for who ever is paying for the reviews to be done. I don't know this to be true but don't know if it wrong ether. so I go more buy word of mouth of people who have or own said car/truck I am looking at!
