Ok, stupid question. I just bought a '12 XLT, my buddy just bought a '14 XLT. I was checking out the two trucks the other day and noticed that his front license plate was offset to the drivers side, while mine was in the middle of the bumper. Is this an option on this generation of trucks, or did it change and I am unable to move it. The reason I ask, is I am thinking about putting an LED bar in the bumper.

The Ecoboost engine required the license offset so more air could flow through. All other engines, the plates are centered.

 

It just pops out... lift up on the tabs on the bottom, and pull the bottom out... reach around behind/above the chrome and pinch the clips on the top and it comes right out...

I took mine out, reinforced it w/ steel plate, and mounted some LED's in it and put it back in.
