Forgive me if this is a repeat of another post, I tried numerous searches without luck. My heater fan started to act up a few weeks ago, whereas it would not come up to speed. The next day though it seemed to come back to normal operation. Now, all of a sudden I had the smell of burning electronics in my truck and the fan completely quit, at all speeds. My first question would be, does anyone have the resistive specs for the speed control resistor? Then if it doesn't happen to be the issue, the resistive specs on the fan motor itself? I imagine the resistor would likely show visible damage but would save a lot of time and frozen hands if I could simply hook my multimeter up to it before I start to take it apart.

My 05 I had the fan would only work on high, the resistor was bad. Seems to be the case when the resistor tends to fail but yours doesn't work on any speed. Not sure how you could test the resistor. You could always run power to the fan to make sure it works to rule out that part and go from there. The resistor is easy to get too behind glove box door and the fan is easy to get out minus taking one bolt out in the back. A good repair manual should have all the info as far as voltages. The one I have for a 05 has this info.

 

Thanks for the reply! I ended up pulling the blower motor. It is shot, tried to see if it could be opened up, but it's sealed. Broken brush wire can be seen through the vent hole. I was surprised myself as I haven't ever recalled the need to change a motor for a simple burnout, seen them burn from articles being stuck in the fan, etc, but never to just burn up the way it did. Biggest problem now is just waiting for the new one to arrive, not a commonly stocked part locally.
