silver dash vent panels fading/staining?
Recent bought my 2010 F150 Lariat Supercab and just love the truck. Has higher mileage but generally in great shape. Interior is great except for one issue. The silver dash panels (that house the a/c vents, one to the left of the steering column, one either side of the radio and a horizontal strip above the glove box door) have faded, and some parts of them appear stained. i have tried to clean them with spray 9, but no luck. Can these be painted? Anyone else run into this problem?
Not sure what the issue would be there but would definitely bug me as well. Im sure they can be painted, its just getting them off without breaking anything. Only one time on a truck i had when i was a teenager i took my dash surrounds off and painted them to add some character to the inside. So i know they can be painted. Just prep them good and go with a color you really like because they will be a bear to change later. Usually the stock color is preferred for this or slightly off to make it different. Good luck with it!
My stepdad had a 2004 F-150 FX4 with the silver painted inserts on the dash. He installed a couple of those clip-on dash vent air fresheners and they leaked down the painted part of the dash. Needless to say, it left a huge streak down the dash where it took the paint right off. He took it to the dealership and they "fixed" it somehow. He didn't pay much so I know they didn't replace the pieces. Maybe they have some touch-up paint at the dealership? Might could try there.
