Bilstein 5100s

Well figured I'd start out with new shocks all around and get level while I'm at it. Read great reviews about the 5100s and found a fair deal through Amazon. Can't wait to get them in so I can get them installed.

Now I'm trying to decide on a solid AT with moderately aggressive tread; caught between the Toyo AT II or the Wrangler Duratrac. The duratracs look great but wonder about the noise on highway?

If anyone can weigh in personally that'd be great. If not, I found a good price for 275/70/18 for $242 after rebate so I may just pull the trigger on those.

I just did this exact same thing.
You'll love the bilstein. A little rough when going over big potholes but other than that, is a nice ride and great for preventing body roll..

I just installed a set of duratracs 295/65/18. Very aggressive A/T very little road noise in town but don't be on the highway till tomorrow night so I can't really say for higher speeds.. They are better than the Goodyear's I originally had, but they were almost shot.

My dad also just installed the toyo extreme A/T 2 285/65/18 on his Chevy. They do have some road noise on the highway. But other than that very aggressive AT, and from what I have used his truck good in the snow..

I'll be able to compare both side by side this weekend and throughout the whole life span of the tires. Should be a good comparison to see which tire is better.

Thelariat02, thanks for the post, I'm anxious to hear your reviews on the highway with the duratrac. Also, i compared the Toyo AT2 vs AT2 Xtreme and I don't think I'll opt for the Xtreme due to the increased weight. The tread depth and sidewall is a only slightly different but the weight gain is actually a considerable amount.

Let me know what you find out. I have a few days before ordering my tires. I think im leaning toward the AT2 thus far.

And I screwed up the tire size in my first post. I have no idea what tire im gonna use now lol. I want something closer to 33-34 so more research to be done

Do you guys think a 295/70/18 is too large a tire?

I run 295/65/18 on my leveled 07.. I thought it would look small at first but it actually fits well..
Take a look at my pictures. https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...nk-canvas.html
Since you are looking at toyo they do make a 34/12/18 which I would have loved to get but I believe they are back ordered.

Also I believe once you go that big a size they only come in the Xtremes.

Do you have the link for the Bilsteins you ordered via Amazon?

Also, check out the Terra Grappler G2 - a new version with a mileage warranty now. I have factory 20's and have had a set for about month now. No problems or issues but they are a tad bit noisier than the Pirelli's. But anything is better than Pirelli.

Truck looks great dude. I will be using the stock rims so idk if that matters. I read about offsets and back spacing but that's all gibberish to me lol. I have no clue what any of it means and the more i research it, the more confused i become

I guess I don't understand why a tire can/can't, should/shouldn't be used on a factory rim?

Yeah you're right about the size only coming in Xtremes but I like it either way. It's heavier but whatever. I'll take the running boards off to offset the increase in weight

Yep I was gonna say that. Haha ya I wanted to get a set but couldn't get them.

On stock rims you'll be able to fit anything from 35x12.5 and smaller.

Thanks bro. I'm still researching a good and aggressive AT tire. I may not wait for the toyo at2s after all

So far I'm impressed with my duratracs. Highway noise is about the same as the Xtremes if not maybe even a tad quieter. .
Had them on a snowy road and hill and no slip. Seemed like good traction.. I did have 4 tires in the back tho.

I had the AT II's on my 03 F150 and loved them. Smooth & pretty quiet on the road. Great traction.
