Magniflow p/n ?

I have a 2012 Lariat and in looking around, I think I'm going to do a dual exit before the rear wheels. I was wondering if anyone else has done by just buying the muffler itself and having a local shop do the rest of the fab? I know you can buy the kit from Magniflow but I was going to compare costs on the 2.

I'd expect a shop to charge around $250-$300 to do the install with tips (this could vary depending on the shop). So you'd save some money with just the muffler. But the exhaust shops I've seen use aluminized tubing mostly and the fit/finish depends on the person doing the work. So if you're picky like me, it's worth the extra money to know that everything will fit and sound right.

Now if you wanted to go with just a muffler, a few bucks can be saved by opting for the unpolished version of their muffler. Same performance and stainless steel, but I don't plan on using a muffler as a mirror.

Good point about the fit and finish. I have a good shop locally I do business with and they have always done me right. But there is something to be said about a complete kit. Thanks for the info.

Gcop, I put a Flowmaster Cat Back system on my 2011 SCab , did it my self. I did the research you can 8-10 hp with either system, and this looks factory and much easier to install. http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/?p...ust%20Kits&kw=

I actually ended up doing a Magniflow with dual 4" tips. The whole thing cost me $170 out the door...VERY pleased with the results. I had considered the Flowmaster but I've always used Magniflow in the past, so I was familiar with the sound. Although I have to say, since my install I have had the chance to hear the Flows, and I know now, I would have been happy either way.

Post some pics when you get a chance. Way to go on the DIY!
