Headlight Question
Headlight Question
Just looking for some other input, I have the basic stock headlights and stock bulbs on my 2012 f150, the headlights I'm looking for are those bright white ones, not the ones with the blueish tint, I guess a bright white? What do you guys recommend?
If you want to stay halogen then look for GE night hawk platinum. They will be only slightly whiter than your stockers and slightly brighter.
Now if you want real bright and pure white look for 5000k HIDs. Now I don't condone running these in your stock headlights as they will glare and throw light into oncoming traffic eyes and blinding them.
The best and proper way to to run HIDs is what is called a projector retrofit. Do a quick search on here for retrofit or go over to the lighting sub-forum and check the retrofit stickies.

I run SilverStars in mine and think they add quite a bit of light over the factory bulb. The fog lights go off when you activate the high beams so I added an LED light behind the grille that comes on with the high beams to fill in the area right in front of the truck. I installed the LED with a 2-way switch so I can turn it on, off, or with the high beams. It isn't super bright but helps light up the pot holes.

Nope, it's due to laws in most states. Can't run both at the same time.
You can't argue with physic

Here are the ACTUAL measured output numbers as provided by Sylvania themselves.
Yer eyes are deceiving you - SS and SS Ultras are No Brighter than the standard bulbs - it's the color temperature that is obfuscating the reality here.

BTW - Lariat is correct - excessive foreground lighting is not helpful. And again, the eyes have been the subject of Maskirovka.

Please re-read my post fully, I use them to illuminate pot holes which most of you pavement pounders don't encounter. Without the short range light they are hard to maneuver around quick enough. The high beams are needed to light up long range obstacles like animals.
But that's besides the point. You don't want that illumination right in front of you when you are trying to see animals way in the distance. You can have one or the other not both.
Pavement pounders haha. My stock trucks have seen more 2 track roads and trails than most lifted trucks.

I was actually thinking of your truck when I typed that haha. But there are many other street queens out there.
