Ecoboost - Oil Change Analysis

I had Blackstone evaluate my most recent oil change, and here is the report!

Background - I had about 2400 miles of heavy towing through the mountains on this oil change. Motorcraft syn blend 5W-30. Rest of miles are mostly highway.

If I'm running without towing, I'm starting to get closer to 10k intervals now that the truck is getting broken in. I'm extremely happy with MC oil in my past 7 trucks!

Looks like the oil has sheared down quite a bit or there's more fuel in it than this UOA shows. You're into a w20 range at 100C. Additives and TBN look good, but the viscosity is low at higher temperatures. Maybe a full synthetic would hold up better.

Wear metals are great. Typical of MC oils. I would not suggest any more mileage per oil change though. The oil has obviously been hammered as noted by the viscosity. Fuel dilution in FTIR is a math problem, not an absolute finding. To find the absolute fuel dilution you'd need a chromatography test and that ain't a cheap date. Considering the flash point is more than the virgin sample, the oil has been sheared, not diluted. It has sheared enough that you are running a middle of the road(viscosity wise) oil in an engine that desperately needs more viscosity. The EB engines have been noted for hammering the oil. Looks like yours is among them. I wouldn't run any oil, regardless of price, absolutely anymore than 7500 miles and if it were mine, no farther than 5000 miles. Overall, a good report but beware any long distance oil changes.
