Can I tow it?

2012 5.0 SCREW Axle L9 (3.55?) Selectable locker and I have 12ply ATKO's on it. I just want to make sure that I can pull this without hurting my truck.

I want to pull a vac unit and the spec sheet shows:
Weight, empty 5,410 lb 2454 kg
Trailer GVWR 10,000 lb 4536 kg

Probably not. Your max tow rating is 7500# (longbed) or 7700# (shortbed) - and that assumes no other cargo in the truck or bed except for the driver.

A little much for a Super Crew. The exact reason why I went with a 2wd SCab, which is rated at 9,500 lbs.

A few more questions:

1. How often will you tow this load?
2. How far will you be towing this load?
3. What other cargo/passengers will be included while towing?
4. What speed will you be towing?
5. What is your life expectation for the truck in miles or years?

Just based on your first post, the impact of towing on your truck can't be determined.

6. Exactly how much is the unit and trailer combined going to weigh when you are towing it?

This comes up enough we need a standard questionnaire template we can cut and paste!

I think the crux boils down to exactly this question....

That - and indirectly, the tongue weight. Question #3 is also very important because of GVWR rating, which will directly affect the max payload.

Do you know how ladders have a maximum weight capacity? . . . The truck is designed to handle more than what is printed on the sticker. I once saw a Toyota Tundra tow a NASA space shuttle. I don't think you will have any major issues if you take it easy. If it is a one time deal you're golden.

That was a flat tow, not a hitch tow. Big difference, no tongue weight.

I've seen a team of midgets pull a 747, doesn't mean they can support the weight, Seems like a lot for 150.

I guess I am not sure which weight you are using. GVWR is the gross weight fully loaded. Are you going to pull this thing fully loaded? Seems to me that you are going to fall somewhere between the 10K and 5400 lbs.
The other issue is tongue weight. If you don't have a lot of tongue weight, then you you should be good to go. Also, does this trailer have brakes? That will make a big difference. Stopping is sometimes the hardest thing to do in these equations.
Like the others said. How far, how fast, and terrain?
