ECM/PCM fried--->CEL?
ECM/PCM fried--->CEL?
Hey guys just need a bit of help. I had an edge cs programmer on my 2010 F-150 4.6 3V and somehow it ended up burning out my ECM(that's what Ford says). The CEL came on I had no idea why,I turned off my truck then tried to turn it back on and it was not happening. The odometer read -----, and all the faults cycled across the screen. I have power to everything and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery did nothing. Towed to dealer, they say I need a new computer. Could the computer going out or being bad cause the CEL to come on?

My boss just put his bone stock '13 F250 in the shop and is having the ECM replaced. His is warranty work, dealer said if he had to pay it would between 5600 and 6600 bucks.
Hope that isn't the case with yours.

Yea they said they tried to flash is but it didn't work. They ordered a new ECM and last I checked they were updating the new one. Says its gonna be $1K. Not what I wanted to hear but not as bad as $5K plus. Did either of you know if the CEL came on before the ECM crashed?

Thanks I think mine may have come one b/c it got unplugged while it was loading the program. I had a nav sys put in that connects to the OBDII and the programmer was supposed to be unplugged during installation and I just found out that it wasn't. So during the nav install with all the on and off with that and the programmer both plugged in my ECM was pretty much overloaded.
