Like (Steve) Tasca said, they should fix that as well. I don't think metal retains much of a smell. So, they should be able to replace an porous material that stinks. I've seen cars return from the grave with no smell, so I know they can fix this. Just don't bite the hand of someone trying to feed you.

Again, the problem is not with Ford, it's with your dealer.

If you know for a fact it's Ford dragging their feet, then Ashley can definitely try to help. That's her job!

Not sure about your state, but if you have had it in the shop 3 times, for the same issue, and its been in the shop for 21 days, and you lived in my state, the lemon law would kick in:

Your vehicle may qualify under the Lemon Law if one or more of the following conditions have been met:

1. The vehicle has been in the shop 3 or more times for the same problem, and the problem still exists;

2. The vehicle has been in the shop one time by reason of a defect likely to cause death or substantial bodily injury, and the problem still exists; or

3. The vehicle has been out of service for any number of problems 20 or more days, and the defect(s) still exists. The days out of service do not need to be consecutive.

To qualify under the Lemon Law, the problem or defect has to render the vehicle unfit, unreliable, or unsafe for ordinary use or significantly diminish the value of the vehicle, and has to have occurred during the Lemon Law rights period.

The Lemon Law rights period is defined by the Lemon Law as the term of the manufacturer's written warranty, the period ending two years after the date of the original delivery of a motor vehicle to the consumer, or the first 24,000 miles of operation attributed to a consumer, whichever expires first.

Kyle,

If you don't mind sharing, what was your result?

I recently had a very similar issue with my '13 FX4 SCREW. I kept getting a small puddle on the passenger side floor mat that was coming from the "oh $h!t" handle. I visited the dealer 6 times before they finally figured it out, but not before resealing my satellite antenna and third brake light with no resolution. It turned out to be a pinhole leak in the area of a weld in the upper right corner of the windshield. Apparently, when the windshield was installed, the gasket that was installed did not seal properly against that weld. It's been 5 months without issue so far (recognizing 3 of those months consisted of sub-zero temperatures). The dealer ended up having to replace the windshield under warranty because it broke when trying to remove it to reseal it. It's worth a try. Good luck.

Water leaks and wind noises followed by rattles are the absolute worst things to diagnose because they tend to only happen under very specific conditions and the tech has to try to figure out what those conditions are.

I remember back in the days when I worked in the shop it wasn't uncommon to have a car in the car wash bay with one tech locked in a trunk or just inside the car while another tech stood outside hosing down the car while they searched for a water leak.

Not fun.

Kyle, what was your final result? I too was once in your position, but I can honestly tell you that you will get nowhere by being hostile. I know you have apologized, which is good, but make sure you go through all of their motions that they ask of you. It may be absolute BS, but believe me, it helps your case to follow along with everything they ask.

Search my old posts, I put my former dealership on TV when I had exhausted all of the options that Ford had offered, and won. You can too.

Good luck with that lemon law idea. I've been through more trouble than a few visits to the dealership with the same issues and still having problems. I've dealt with multiple dealerships, Ashely here on the forum and my local Ford customer device rep all to no avail. After not being able to fix the problems they claim that my level is to blame and that they can't lemon my truck because "it doesn't effect me getting from point A to point B".
Anyway, it's been a nightmare. Good luck in your situation.
