Consider spending some time in the tuner section...... BEFORE you buy tires. A custom tuner will allow you to pick the tire size of your liking, AND add extra grunt to your pull.

At some point, the gas cost is going to kill me. I could even swallow it if I got 10-11 mpg.

BUT it makes me wonder, what if i used premium gas instead? What will the mpg be with a 6000# trailer vs a 9000# one be?
From my experience premium doesn't help any with fuel economy. My fully loaded King Ranch with Max Tow and the 6.5' bed gets around 18mpg at 60mph empty- that's with no wind. This truck weighs about 6500 lbs.
Towing my 7000 lb travel trailer at 60mph I get around 9.5mpg.
Towing a 6000 lb gooseneck I get 9.9mpg at 60mph
Load that trailer up with 5k lbs of pipe and steel and I get 8.4mpg
If I tow my empty carhauler (24' long and 4k lbs) I get 12mpg but it has hardly no wind resistance.
If I tow my 1500 lb 7x12' utility trailer (with nothing on it) at 60mph I get 13mpg

Wind resistance plays a larger part in fuel economy than weight. If you go to a travel trailer that has less sq ft of wind resistance you will do better. For example instead of having a travel trailer that is 12 1/2' high and 8 1/2' wide go with something similar to my Surveyor Select which is only 8' wide and only 9'11" tall. It is low to the ground so you have to be careful going in and out of driveways with dips- I put wheelie bars on the back of mine.

I have the Wagner intercooler and have tried multiple tow tunes- none help with fuel economy.

My '11 ecoboost was a Super Cab and weighed about 1100 lbs less. It got about 3mpg better empty as well as towing. These big heavy Super Crew trucks stay in boost all of the time and suck the fuel.

If I drive only highway (i.e. reset the cluster while driving highway) and am VERY light on the gas (i.e. barely touch it to maintain 65mph and then back off) then I may get up to 17 - 17.5 for the duration of a 40 minute trip. That being said; this means no sudden stops/go's due to traffic or speeding up to merge on the highway or get over for exits.

GLC: That's at least 3 mpg less than you should be getting.

The dealer has been less than helpful on any solution (ie a reflash of the ecu, etc).

Guys,
I slapped some Firestone Destination AT LTR's (275/65/18) Load Range E tires on the Eco yesterday.

Drove home and was worried about the rougher ride that I had experienced in my 2001 F-150 4.6L when I put E tires on there, but the ride was smooth as butter on the highway at least.

Just so happens we had a little wetness overnight here in central Oklahoma so on the way to work this morning I gave it some quick stops and it seems to do well (as it stated it would on numerous reviews of the tire) in the rain/slick roads.

I really like the look of the tires too. I'll take a pic here in a little bit.

What pressure are you running without the load?

GLC, I haven't checked what the tire dealer put in them yet. I plan on putting about 50lbs in there unloaded and 65-70 loaded.

Guys, here is some pictures of the truck on the Firestone Destination AT/LTR 275/65/18's.

I had LR E tires on my old 2001 and they almost beat my guts out driving it, but I think it had a lot to do with the older suspension components on that truck that confounded that scenario. I really like how these ride. (still havent' checked what psi they are running right now)

And.. Boomer Sooner!

Oh, and I've done a "Poor Man's Re-flash" of the ECU. I unplugged the battery for about 15 min last night and reset the computer. This morning, driving normally, my MPG was 17 - 17.5.

I'll continue to monitor it and record MPG and post another thread on what I find.

I'm honestly surprised that the Big 12 is still intact. The Big 12 is the "Longhorn league," which is BS. I thought going to the SEC would be terrible for us, but it's gone well so far. I was raised hating the SEC though, so I still don't like the conference haha.
Glad the tires are doing well!

When loading the truck up, I think I'm going to up the PSI to 65lbs. Sound reasonable?

35 is too soft, that's why it's riding so nice. You are going to get abnormal wear and they will heat up a LOT. You need to pump them up to 50 unloaded, 65 or higher when loaded.

Did you do a chalk test on his tires?
I was running my E tires at 40psi (max of 85) with no abnormal wear, and a lot more comfortable ride.
