Will 2007 tonneau and bed extender fit '09+

I'm getting close to trading my 2007 Supercrew in on a slightly used 2012 or 13 Supercrew. I'll be taking my tonneau cover and aftermarket bed extender out of the '07 first. I was wondering if they'll fit the new truck. If not I'll just sell them.

First, I assume that we're talking aobut the same length beds.

From what I understand the inside of the bed is the same size but Ford added the overhanging rear lip to the tailgate starting in 2009(?) so the outside is longer and the radius of the two back corners are larger. So, No, a tonneau or anything that needs to fit the outside will not fit after 2008. However inside parts such as bed liners do fit.

FWIW I have a folding plastic bed extender out of an earlier (2006?) F-250 in my 2010 F-150 and it fits fine except that it sits a bit too high and isn't level when folded so I took the rubber bumpers off off it. It's probably too high because I also have a factory bed liner and it doesn't let the bumpers set as low at they should. I just took out the plug in rubber bumpers on the bottom side, that's all.

I got my folding bed extender at a flea market for $20 :-) There were dimples in the bed liner where the mounting screws, and pins went so I just had to drill out the holes in the middle of the dimples. One mounting hole about half way up each vertical rail on both sides just in front of the tailgate for the mounting screw that the extender rotates around when you swing it form the forward to the rear position and a hole for a locking pin near the bottom of the rail. Then a hole in the tailgate for another locking pin when the extender is positioned to the rear. The hole is near the top middle inside surface of the tailgate and it will be at the back, TOP surface when the tailgate is down.

PS: Short version: Bed extender should fit but tonneau cover won't. Also bed length doesn't matter since it's irrelevent to the extender. It is relevent to the tonneau but that won't fit due to the tailgate lip so again changing bed length is irrelevent.

Since your extender is an aftermarket item, the manufacturer and/or vendor should be able to definitively tell you if it will fit. I don't know how your's mounts but I strangly suspect that it will fit.

What kind of tonneau do you have?

I had a tri-fold tonneau from my 2004 that fit on my 2012 because it just sat on top of the rails & tailgate.

Any cover that fits over the sides and "hangs down" to seal up the bed will NOT fit.

The bed extender will work as long as you keep your old hardware. I kept everything from my 2005 and put it onto my 2011. My toneau cover also bolted right up. It clips to the inside of the bed rail.

Thanks guys. It's a 5.5' bed. My tonneau is a Truxedo Truxport roll-up.

My Extang Flip Top tonneau from my 97 F150 fit my 13 F150 (same bed size of course) just fine.

The inside frame just clamps to the inside bed rails and it was adjustable, so no problem fitting.

My Black Max Extang (soft) tonneau fits my 2011 better than the '07 it was made for. In fact, the cover keeps the cargo dry on my 2011, but never kept the cargo dry on my '07. I feel it is due to the different contours of the newer body style bed caps.

Just to update this, I bought a slightly used 2013 XLT Screw yesterday, and just now I put my Truxedo tonneau on. Fits perfect! When I went to remove the Westin bed extender mounting brackets from my '07, the toggle part that pops inside the bed wall just turned inside there, and may have even just broke. So I abandoned them in place and just kept the extender "cage" itself. I ordered a new hardware set and I'm assuming that will go just as well.
