SCT SF3 or X4?
SCT SF3 or X4?
Hey guys I am thinking of ordering a SCT SF3 tuner today for my 5.0 F-150, just wondering if I should maybe wait and get the X4 instead? I don't think they have been released for sale yet, someone correct me if they already have an X4...
I believe there for sale. I seen them on stage3motorsports.com earlier for my 2011 5.0 its was an SCT x4 and 5 custom tunes from 5 star for I think 470. Which is I think 40 more then the x3 which I don't think is to bad for the latest and greatest
If they are not out yet, they will be very soon (this month) for sure. Check out stage 3 motorsports. They have the life time tunes available from 5 star. If you get performance add ons they will give you a new custom tune for no charge. Pretty good deal. I would definetly get the new x4. The built in wifi makes it worth it to me
New programmer and no existing tunes on-hand? Don't do that.
Order direct through 5Star, MPT, VMP, PHP or TP. All ship to Canada all the time and even with the border, will end up cheaper.
Additionally, if you order a canned X4, you will spend even more money later buying custom tunes. If you order an X4 through the above fellers you will pay for a custom-tuned unit right from the start - the tunes are included in the price.
Custom IS the Shiznit - especially on a 5.slow. You'll NEED it to even begin to see Coy's taillights

good luck

Yeah, if you're gonna get a tuner, you're gonna want to fork over the little extra to get custom tunes. Otherwise, it isn't worth the money in my opinion.
I usually say to get the most current thing when it comes to anything with technology. But with these, you can probably pick an X3 for a good price once the X4s are out in full force. And as I understand it, the files for both are still in the same format.

Just be aware of potential warranty implications (if you still have any).
Good luck
