Installing factory electrical running boards

Has anyone had success installing ford factory electrical running boards in say a fx4? If so can you please tell me how you did it. I wired it per the wiring diagrams and it didn't work. Thanks in advance for the help. I have a 2012 fx4 and the boards are from a 2012 I'm assuming a platinum.

First thing I check when a DC wiring system does not work are the grounds. Start with the simple stuff first.

Thanks for the tips guys. Honestly it has power I can confirm that. Basically from what I believe the power running board module is not getting communication from the body control module. There are 2 wires that go to the communications network that is causing the issue.
