30" single row led light bar, which one ?

I have a 2013 FX2 and I'm looking to put a 30" single row LED Light bar behind the grill. I'm not going to pay the money that some big brands are charging, any one have one of the Chinese Cree lights ? Also I was thinking that I would mount it between the grill supports which are 32" apart. Any suggestions I'll take them, thanks....

I'm a little curious as to what people have too.

I have this one and am pretty happy with it:

Is it as good as a really decent set of driving lights? Not really. The LED bars throw out a lot of light, but it's really not all that well focused. I think that's why you'll see off road racers using both LED bars and more conventional driving lights. Each has its place.

I've heard a couple people using Liberty. I may go with them when the time comes to support a Texas business, even though they're probably made in China lol

Are the dual LED bars better than the singles since they are supposed to be a combination of driving and flood patterns ?

Just so you know KMAC, there are no modifications allowed to the headlights in Texas and you are only allowed 4 forward facing white lights. The big towns and cities tend to ignore the law. The little towns will hammer you even during daylight hours. The vehicle lighting must remain factory or as the law reads, per manufacturers specifications. I doubt Houston cares one way or the other. College Station.......I'd sure ask around first before spending money. When I went to A&M back in the 60's you couldn't pass gas without the police stopping you.
FWIW, I had test equipment running on my personal truck and the programmer was on a short cord that I let hang down just in front of the passenger headlight. It had a blue LED about the size of a dime on it. I got a ticket for a blue forward facing light in a one horse town. Cost me 250 bucks to find that they were actually correct and I was in the wrong. Gotta watch the small towns as they need yer money.

If you check the specs, the Texas Liberty 30" single row bar uses 10 watt CREE LEDs. The 30" bar from Oklahoma only uses 5 watt LEDs - from the same manufacturer.

That's a tough call. Even the "spot" pattern LEDs are not nearly as focused as a good conventional driving or pencil beam light. And the "flood" pattern LEDs just plain flood an area - more so than a conventional flood lights. This makes for a good deal of scatter - and thus reflection back at the driver in things like fog or snow.

The Texas Liberty bar I have utilizes a total of 18 LEDs. The three on either end are floods. The 12 in the center are all spots. Does it help? Truthfully, I'd rather just have 18 spot pattern LEDs.

I don't have fog lights in my bumper, and the 4 LED pods I have will all be placed behind the grill if I get a bar, but that'd be hoping I wouldn't get caught for those. I have a lot of things on the "mod list" in front of getting an LED bar, especially because I very rarely need any light beyond my headlights. I did know about the 4 aux light rule, but didn't know that headlight modifications were illegal. So are retrofits and even eBay projectors, etc. all technically illegal? College Station is much stricter on having everything on the up and up. A few of my friends have gotten ticketed for their tint and another friend was giving very touchy ticket after the cop make a U-turn in the middle of the road to get to her. I usually always have my windows down, but they are almost always down at school now because I've got 5% on the fronts. Thank you for the information and the heads up!

Yes. Any modification to your stock headlights are illegal. That is why when people retro some try to make it look stock as to not draw attention.

I run 50 watt LEDs from China on my bowfishing boat and have been happy with them so far. Most LEDs are produced in China, and a lot of times they ship straight from China to your house. You can get them on amazon or ebay for pretty cheap and they are good lights. I went through a company called Customfitz and payed more than if I bought them off amazon, but I got a good warranty on my lights. Although if I had to do it again I would probably go with the cheap lights from amazon.

That's how my other truck is so I wasn't worried.
But I did get a cop pull me over for the LED raptor type lights in the grill. Because in Michigan we have the same law of 4 lights on. I asked why the raptor could have it and he didn't have a answer.
