2013 oem hid lights

Hey has anyone else had issues with the new hid lighting.
I bought the truck new last year and had issues with the shutters not dimming from hi beam to low beam. I live in Canada and don't have a heated garage to thaw the truck if this is a freezing issue, the headlights have been replaced once since I first had the issue. Is this a common issue or am I just having bad luck sometimes both lights stay "open" or non focused but mostly the left hand side anyone have suggestions?
Vehicle is a 2013 fx4 appearance pkg

Hi.

Sticking cutoff shields (not shutters, lol): Been reported at least once, recently: https://www.f150online.com/forums/il...?highlight=hid

Use the warranty you paid for - be civil but firmly insistent - this is NOT normal. Escalate as necessary - it's also a safety concern ( blinding other folks ).

Good luck.

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and it has been -30 degrees F and my have worked fine. I can say pretty authoritatively that it is NOT a cold weather issue.

No issues with mine, been in service for 7 months. Anybody know why when you first start up, the shutters are open to 'hi' beam, then come down to 'lo'?

If I had to guess. It's because the shields are held down by spring and pulled up into the low beam position by magnets. So they start out in the high beam position and are pulled up by the magnets.

I could be wrong though.

Most high beams in a bi-xenon projector the cut-off shield is held in place by a spring and when you turn on your highs 12v activates a solenoid which pulls down the shield.

2nd replacement set of hid's the whole assembly is being replaced next week. they do work fine in cold weather if I don't use brights, any technicians have troubleshooting ideas I can pass on to the dealership if the new assemblies have the same issues? The dealership has had to contact the warranty hotline for both repairs first time I replaced them it was already spring before parts arrived so I'm not sure this is the fix

Sounds line the same problem that my mini H1s have. Does it start working after having the lights on for awhile?
Sounds to me like they need a stronger return spring for the cut off shield.

Sucks to hear the problem usually OEM projectors never have problem..

I know one good fix. Upgrade the projector to an evox-r projector and never have problems again

I live in Ottawa and have had no issues. It's been a cold winter here so far as well.

Errrr the stealership says they only replace the entire assembly...

I'd just take the new assembly.
