I was driving with 40 miles showing in the " miles to empty " guage, I turned a sharp corner and my guage then said 175 miles to empty. Now when I fill up the gas tank, the guage says 75 more miles than it ever did on previous fill ups. What happened? Thanks.

 

Gas sloshing around in the tank when you turned probably started the confusion. Have you tried resetting you mpg gauge? That should get you back to normal.

 

will that make the guage accurate? I have an idea the float unit in the gas tank may have bent or something. Thanks.
