ecoboost stalling

I am having trouble with my 2012 ecoboost stalling on startup and after idling for a while
it started about 10 months ago I started the truck put into gear and drove about a hundred yards and it just died
shut off restarted it and all was good
didnt happen again for maybe 2 months and lately been doing it more often sometime 4 times a day
today i had it sitting idling and it stalled almost didnt get it going but it did start
then it did it again and was worse to get started but finaly went
i have had it into ford several times and they cant fix it because the computer cant tell them what to do it isnt showing any codes and the engine light never comes on
im not having the shutter problem that everyone else has so not sure what is the problem i have never lost power during acceleration
taking it in tue to the dealer and gona tell them i dont want it back until they change some parts

seems to happen when gas tank is low or just after refueling

need help

Have the dealer monitor fuel pressure while you duplicate the stalling

maybe there is an issue with the fuel sending unit ingesting air?

its hard to duplicate the stalling when you never know when it will happen
might not happen for a couple weeks or a month
although its been getting more frequent
filled up gas yesterday and today seemed fine
seems to happen more when tank is low or just after i fill up
its a head scratcher

Cool connection

Hi,
Unplug the TPS- throttle position sensor and put some dielectric grease on the pins, plug it back in.
Perry.

well finally got it to quit at the ford store and they ended up putting in a new high pressure fuel pump apparently there are 2 pumps a low psi booster pump and a high psi pump for the direct injection system

Hope that fixes it. Let us know if it doesn't.

Yup, a DI engine functions a lot like a diesel. The first pump is in the tank like your typical EFI setup. This pump pushes the fuel from the tank to the engine at 65 PSI. There it goes to the Hi Pressure pump where it the pressure is boosted to around 2,200 PSI.

Here's a good description on how it all works.

So then is it safe to say that these direct injection gas engines can experience injector failure similar to the diesels? And the expense of replacing the injectors is ridiculous just like the diesels?

Any part on any car can and will break but so I have not seen any other failures on these pumps. I believe the pump is made by Bosch which has been making the DI systems for VW/Audi/Porsche for a long time now. Also consider the pressure difference between a diesel and an EB. A 6.7L Powerstroke runs the injectors at 30,000PSI vs the 2,200PSI on the EB. That's a pretty wide gap. I did a quick check on the EB injector and the first place I saw them was $52/ea.
