2.3L Ecoboost

Lincoln just introduced the 2015 MKC crossover. It has as an option a 2.3L Ecoboost engine that puts out 275 HP and 300 torque. Similar to the current 3.7L V6 standard in the F150.

Does this engine make it into the F150 lineup? Discuss......

Chances of a 4cyl in an F150 are kinda low. That said, if they were to do it, it would probably be the 2.5L rumored to be in the 2015 ecoboost equipped Mustang.

Doubt it, I suspect it costs more to build than the 3.7 and doesn't provide a real benefit. Plus in a much heavier vehicle I doubt the mileage will be all that great.

Torque curve most likely better. 2.5 more apt to find its way into f150. Theoretically should produce at least 5% more power than the 2.3 and in line with the ole 4.6 3v. Agree the 3.7 would be cheaper to produce but who knows for sure I don't.

The motor mounts could get so long as to break the side of the engine block with a aluminum block 4 cyl in a F150. Maybe a frame adapter. LOL

I thought it was a 2.3L, but I haven't checked up on the new Mustang in over a month. Either way, I'd want a V8 under the hood of my pony.

That said, I don't see how a 4-banger would make it under the hood of the new F-150. A Ford Ranger sized truck perhaps, but I couldn't see what benefit you'd get if it were in a larger, heavier truck, even if it goes on a 700 lb diet. I couldn't imagine it having much better mileage over the Ecoboost, and I'd hate to see the mileage once the turbos start to go!
